Stafford W. Keegin is an AV®-rated* attorney representing small and emerging corporations and business and real estate enterprises. His practice focuses on corporate, partnership and securities law, including: corporate and business mergers, acquisitions, conversions and dispositions, corporate and partnership taxation, securities issuance and sales, software and technology licensing, real estate enterprise structuring, and debt financings such as securitized loans and commercial real estate loan financings and defeasances. Recent transactions include the sale of hospitals in Modesto, San Ramon and Redding, California, and several complex corporate restructurings.
Mr. Keegin began his law practice at Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco, California, and was a partner with Cotton, Seligman & Ray in San Francisco. After serving as senior attorney for the National Economic Development and Law Center in Berkeley, California, he joined Keegin Harrison in 1981.
Mr. Keegin has taught continuing legal education courses for the Marin County Bar Association and has lectured before CPA professional groups. His memberships in California Bar Business Law Section committees have focused on partnerships, limited liability companies, and unincorporated associations. In 1984 he chaired the Small Business Committee of the Section of Taxation of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Keegin has served on the boards of a food manufacturer and co-packer, and with hospital, school, sports, fundraising and symphony nonprofits. He was board president of the Mt. Tamalpais School and the Marin Symphony Association, and vice president and executive committee member of the St. Francis Yacht Club 1987 America’s Cup Challenge. He also participated in the United States Department of Defense Joint Orientation Conference 53.
Currently he serves on the Citizen's Oversight Committee of the Sausalito, California, City Council, and is a member of the Sausalito Planning Commission.
Mr. Keegin is a co-author of books on cooperatives, and has published numerous articles relating to taxation, securities, consumer and housing development legal issues.
